Comic Book Marketing 101 provides budding entrepreneuers with solid advice about the comic book business. This e-book's* greatest strength lies in its step-by-step approach to addressing different markets. However, its inclusion of Diamond Comic Distributors means many independent comics creators may find the rare chance to partner with a monopolistic giant near impossible. My advice: be prepared.

We used this book to launch Face Value Comics (http://www.nbcnews.com/feature/making-a-difference/comic-book-stars-worlds-first-hero-autism-n190321) last year. Perhaps the tips we used helped give us leverage when Diamond Comic Distributors asked to partner with the world's first featured comic book hero with autism. Even WITH a deal from Diamond Comic Distributors in hand, independent comics publishers are wise to continue the social media strategies outlined herein. For example, we know by experience that not even Diamond Comic Distributors will help YOU market YOUR book beyond Previews catalogs.

YOUR comic book is YOUR baby, so please don't foolishly believe that someone else can market your imagination better than you could. Mat Nastos is active on social media, and offers helpful tips that add value to this book. For its price, length, and multiple approaches to marketing (and various prices for additional services to help automate some SEO options), invest in this book.

Comic Book Marketing 101 eBook Mat Nastos Reviews

Mat definitely knows what he is talking about in this book. Lots of helpful resources, would recommend for any indie creator.
Awesome book on marketing. The comic book industry needs a lot more of this kind of thinking.
Theres alot of great advice, which is more on the internet side of marketing. Brutally honest and gives words of caution to the indie comic book publisher on how not to delegate your book to page 8 on google among many other things.
Along with Dirk Manning's "Write or Wrong", this a must-read for making comics. Whether you have a publisher or are going solo, Nastos breaks down the key things you need to do to let your potential fans know your work exists. This is a steal for the price as it can only help your comic succeed.
This is a great book and a great bargain for anyone thinking about publishing their own comics. Mat does a great job applying traditional marketing concepts to an industry that often skips some steps (for example identifying a target market before a book is created, planning a product launch, seo basics, etc). The book also touches on some of the channel dynamics that make it difficult for small publishers and gives practical ideas on alternatives to the specialty retail channel. The ideas presented throughout the book are both practical and entertaining. Read this book if you want to sell more self published comics.
I really enjoyed reading Comic Book Marketing 101. Mat Nastos is straight forward, which is very refreshing. He also has a way with words that makes such a daunting subject as marketing easier to understand. It's not often easy to find such a broad subject made to fit into concise steps. That makes building on them easier too. After completing all of the steps that pertain to me (which is just about all of them), I know I will be ready to get started on my own comic marketing adventure!
I LOVE this book! It is a no-nonsense book on the state of the comic book indsustry. It takes a business/marketing approach to making money with your comics. The solutions work, bottom line! Then author, Mat Nastos, walks the walk-he is a prolific fantasy writer, and is very active on his own website, and has a passion for the comic book industry as well. You need to keep this book handy if you intend to survive the HIGHLY competitve and not always lucrative, comic book world!
